The Propeller Pages: Software ProjectsThis page is a collection of software projects for the Propeller.Back to Propeller While the Propeller is an extremely capable of being applied to industrial controls, robotics, and a variety of applications, my interests are in "retro-style" mini computing. Most of the projects listed here are geared that direction. PropDOS A dos-like program launcher for the Propeller which incorporates the ability store applications on a connected SD (secure digital) for access without a connected PC. FemtoBASIC COLOR This modification of FemtoBASIC incorporates the AiGeneric text driver giving it a retro feel 40x24 CBM character set including the ability to redefine characters on the fly, read a NES controller, and limited sound support. An update was recently uploaded which includes the use of Michael Parks ED program for word processor style editing of your BASIC programs. FemtoBASIC Propterminal This modification of FemtoBASIC is geared toward minimal Propeller configurations (like a bare Protoboard or PEkit) allowing the use of FemtoBASIC with a connected PC running Propterminal. The Step-by-Step Tutorial for Protoboard New Users contains instructions for getting started with Propterminal and this revision of FemtoBASIC tvIRC This is an AiGeneric modification of Harrison's PropIRC client. Requires the use of an "enc28j60" device connected to the Propeller. We recommend the PropNIC from uController.com. Full Screen Editor This project was replaced by ED by Michael Parks which is a more stable editor for the Propeller. There is an interesting "Text-to-Speech" modification of Full Screen Editor toward the end of the thread. CoggyTerm 2.0 This propeller based VT100 serial terminal was developed for the N8VEM project. It is a reasonable VT100 terminal with versions for TV and VGA. (HSS) The Musical Propeller This four channel mod tracker for the Propeller demonstrates the pretty much untapped audio potential of the Propeller. A stand alone version was released for use with PropDOS. PotatoView & Spudview Two different 8bit graphics viewers for the Propeller Potatoview (top thread) is a 16 color .xpm image viewer. Spudview (about 10 messages lower) will display low resolution .ppm images. A modification of Spudview called FryView displays images even faster. DeepFry Video Player The evolution of @vampyre's work with FryView? to a low resolution video player. DeepFry? is a prop application that will play color video files on your NTSC tv from your SD card the videos are in .pvf format, a custom format. PropMIDI player by Jeff Ledger Using Andy Schenk's PMSynth object this midi player will playback type 0 midi files from either an onboard SD card, or streamed from the PC. Design is based the C64 SIDPLAYER with on-screen keyboards.
